Feels cheap. Feels so cheap. – Okay, so it IS a cheap keyboard, but I was absolutely surprised by how terrible it was to type on this thing. It’s the MUSHIEST keyboard I have EVER used. Every keystroke feels like trudging through knee-deep mud. It’s that bad. It takes so long for the keys to bounce back up, you can neither use this for gaming nor typing tasks. I had a more enjoyable experience on the Amazon Basic keyboard. Redragon was also very literal about this being an RGB keyboard, because it displays exactly three different colors, R, G, & B. Don’t expect any other color of the spectrum coming out of this, don’t expect any kind of smoothness in the waterfall color effects. Looks more like a strobe effect. Just get a monochrome backlit illuminated keyboard, because that’ll look way classier than this thing. Just stay away.

Quiet, Bright, and feels more premium than it’s price – I came from an old Logitech k740 whose tactile keys I loved. This one is also a membrane but has more key travel, it’s keys are chunkier so it will take a little while to get used to the depth. It’s quiet/muted, and the LEDs are super bright (so the lowest setting is enough), suitable for coding/typing during long nights without disturbing family. The keys themselves are likely ABS plastic but have a matte finish that feel so nice to the touch. It is overall compact and one thing I appreciate is that the keys stick out and they are not recessed, which is perfect for cleaning. From past experience keyboards with recessed keys collect dust and dirt that you can’t just air-blast or brush out.

Keys are poorly constructed – The first unit I received – half the keys didn’t work. I tested every single key and it seemed random as to which worked and which didn’t. I returned this for another unit.

Not Redragon’s best – I gave it four stars because my parents like it. Typing on it feels like any cheap keyboard. I have a Redragon RGB mechanical keyboard, and I wanted something cheaper to go with the computer my parents use. At the time it was only about $23, half the price my K551-RGB cost when I got it. My parents like the flashy lights. I have tried it on Windows 10 1909 and it works fine with Ubuntu 18.04, although I haven’t tried the media keys.
