10 reviews for HyperX SoloCast – USB Condenser Gaming Microphone,

Yeti > Quadcast S overall – I’m a streamer that went from a Blue Yeti (standard) to a HyperX Quadcast S. After using it for about a week, I’ll be returning this. For reference, I used the mic on a Windows PC for streaming games and talking on Discord, so it was always on Cardioid mode. I did not use an interface. Price was not an issue for me (it was on sale for TG/BF weekend when I purchased, but HyperX is typically more expensive than Blue).

Five stars… with the right software – Warning: this microphone is incredibly sensitive. Do not buy this if you do not plan to use software to help filter out noises that you do not want to be heard. Out of the box, this microphone was literally picking up the noises of my clothing against my chair and the sound of my arm moving across my mouth mouse pad. Not to mention louder noises such as the clicking of my mouse and the switches on my keyboard.

Awesome mic, almost too sensitive! – So I ordered this because I got tired of wearing a headset for 8-16 hour a day and wanted to swap to external speakers for work. Well, color me impressed! Both work and gaming have told me that it’s the best sound they’ve heard yet for my mics and I’ve tried a few. It blows away my headset mic and that’s a Logitech Wireless Pro X ($200 headset). Even with the gain turned all the way down, I use a software gain to decrease its sensitivity so I can listen to music or TV in the background without it being picked up and other parties having to listen to it.

    4. M. H (verified owner)

Love it! – I haven’t had much experience with mics.

    5. J. O (verified owner)

Noise cancellation – This microphone is of really good quality for the price. The button on the top allows for quick mute, but I am sure there is a hotkey binding feature that can be applied to mute. The mic itself reminds me of a pill, but there are extra attachments that can be used to mount it differently. Personally, I took apart an old lamp stand and 3D printed models to mount it to my desk. The audio comes only from the front end, so make sure it is facing you as the audio protrudes in a cardioid polarized wide 76-degree beam width (guess), but if you fly sUASs, then in terms of piloting, it is like a patch antenna, but with less range. Another key feature to note is that the light color can not be changed. If you are researching a couple of 100 microphones, I would settle on this despite the price, spending $40 on a microphone is what you are expecting to spend. Settling for a random microphone called, Hape might echo microphone (look this up this is pretty funny), probably isn’t a good idea. Follow the reviews and save yourself many hours of research, already have done it for you.
